As a learning exercise with DaVinci Resolve, I created a music video for a song I made earlier this year. The song was primarily recorded using a bunch of Korg Volca synthesizers and some additional sound effects and soundscaping in Reaper.
Earlier this year, I posted about sharing regular updates on YouTube to help with accountability. That was a failed experiment! I got a couple of videos shared, but I failed to account for how the regular Portland heat waves ruin my ability to get anything done. I need to just start accepting that I have to take the summer off!
Work on the Arbatel project has continued, and the following music video is kind of part of that. I am also still learning (slowly!) how to use DaVinci Resolve to edit video better. In this particular video, I used mostly stock footage, but wanted to try to use chroma key compositing (AKA green screen) and then I also wanted to focus on color correction.
More Updates Coming
I have a few updates coming, including the next episode of the Arbatel series, covering the third septenary. I currently have all the audio recorded, I just have to spend some time putting it together. In addition, be on the lookout for the latest in my forecast series with Andrew B. Watt and T. Susan Chang! If you are already a Patreon supporter, you can watch the video right now.
I will also be teaching more online and in-person classes starting in January, so watch out for those, too. Remember, if you want to stay up-to-date on everything I’m doing, sign up for the newsletter.
